Hello, I'm Shalini and I am currently working as a Fullstack Web Developer at RadioKing.

Before joining RadioKing, I studied for my masters in Computer Science at the University of Lille, France.

I am moving to Hamburg in January 2022 to join my partner and therefore considering future working opportunities in the backend / web-development space.

📚Education

While I completed a law degree at the University of Mauritius, I soon realised that I'd be miserable if I pursued a career in the legal field.

I was lucky enough to later find my passion with programming and decided to take the scary step of changing my career and moving to France.

Whilst at the University of Lille, I was also a co-organizer of a hub for the 2020 Google Hashcode event. Our hub received around 30 students along with participants from a nearby software company.

I was also ranked nationally in Science while finishing college in Mauritius, something which my parents are still quite proud of.

Fullstack Web Developer at RadioKing 2020 - 2021 (Tourcoing, France)

Whilst at RadioKing, I worked as a Fullstack Developer and was responsible for:

  • Feature development on a custom CMS website on Zend Framework.
  • Migrating (part of a team) the current platform from a legacy application to Laravel.
  • Implementing (part of a team) the redesign of the CMS admin panel using Tailwind CSS.
  • Developing an online theme editor on the CMS.
  • Publishing Android applications on behalf of clients.
Tutor at the University of Lille 2018 - 2019 (Villeneuve d'Ascq, France)
  • Assisted first-year students with programming lessons in Python and Javascript.
Developer (Intern) at The Loop 2018 (Lille, France)
  • Integration of insurance companies in an underwriting assistant app with Typescript, React and Puppeteer.

🤓Interests

I am looking for an opportunity which will provide the following:

  • Daily challenges to level up my skills from a Junior Developer.
  • Mentoring / learning / training opportunities from Senior Developers.
  • Ideally (but of course not limited to) an opportunity in the backend space (PHP / Scala / Go).
  • Following at least some of Joel's 12 rules.

✍🏼Closing notes

I am fluent in both English and French as my primary languages and will soon start a German language course.
